EnergyCode is an electricity charges validation platform that helps businesses verify their network and third-party charges. Our services are available to businesses only (B2B) and are not intended for individual consumers.
Charges We Validate:
- DUoS (Distribution Use of System) charges across all 14 GB DNO regions using CDCM methodology
- TNUoS (Transmission Network Use of System) charges
- BSUoS (Balancing Services Use of System) charges
- Capacity Market levy
- CfD (Contracts for Difference) levy
- CCL (Climate Change Levy)
Platform Features:
- MPAN lookup and tariff identification
- Historical charge comparisons (from April 2023)
- Billing error detection and reporting
- Support for both half-hourly (HH) and non-half-hourly (NHH) meters
Geographical Coverage: Our service covers England, Scotland, and Wales only. Northern Ireland operates under a different regulatory framework and is not covered. Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) are supported; for IDNO connections, we require your postcode to identify the host DNO region and apply the correct tariffs.
Limitations: We validate charges using the Common Distribution Charging Methodology (CDCM) only. Extra High Voltage (EHV) connections at 22kV or above use EDCM (bespoke site-specific pricing) and are not covered by our calculator. We provide EDCM tariff data for reference and validation purposes only. We cannot validate wholesale energy costs, supplier margins, CCL exemptions, or EII relief as these depend on individual contracts and agreements.
Data Sources: We extract charge data from official DNO charging statements published annually by all 14 Distribution Network Operators. This includes Annex 1 (CDCM tariff rates), Annex 2 (EDCM site-specific tariffs for import and export), Annex 3 (preserved/legacy tariff classes), and Annex 6 (quarterly addenda for new or amended EHV site tariffs).
Our calculations are based on published industry tariffs and methodologies. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that our calculations will match supplier invoices exactly due to variations in billing practices. You should always verify results with your energy supplier.
